Washing Apex North Face

Pinochet's mentor

As I write these lines, the Chilean right-wing is gathered to pray for the immortal soul of Jaime Guzmán, the eminence grise behind Augusto Pinochet. Guzman, deeply religious, was the architect of the Constitution created during the dictatorship and who was gave ideological support to the regime's repressive discourse.

Guzman was the man who devised the so-called binomial system "to elect representatives and senators, a highly complex system designed to ensure an overrepresentation of the right. Several times the coalition tried to change that system, but always lacked the necessary votes.

Called by many the Goebbels of Pinochet, Guzman died in 1991, killed by a commando of the Manuel Rodriguez Patriotic Front, the armed wing of the Communist Party. He was one of the last blows of the Front for the full breakdown, whose existence, and in democracy-there lost all sense it may once have been a dictatorship.

happened just an early April 20 years ago, and this is the reason why today is still high level of martyr and saint of the right, even a fine monument in the district of Vitacura. Advocates

Guzman always talk that he helped some people from good families who had been kidnapped by the regime's secret police to regain freedom. People being tortured today thanks - understandably Guzman his speech in its favor.

However, for me makes it even more guilty. Until today, many of civilians accompanying the tyranny happily argue that "knew" what he was doing the government in its basements dark. But Guzman knew and he knew so well that even be bothered to rescue those who had the privilege of having a well-off family in the elite chilensis.

That naturally does not in any way condone his killing-a cowardly and stupid, but it helps to have a bit of caution before it holy and become a hero. Understandably, however, given the lack of heroes of the Chilean right. It has so many executioners but so many martyrs, that certainly comes in handy praise of this incident character as far as possible.

One of the accused as participants or conspirators to murder is Galvarino Apablaza, Old Front leader now in exile in Argentina. Sebastián Piñera last year tried to extradite him for trial, but the government of Cristina Fernandez opted for asylum in a controversial decision.

And while I think Apablaza should face his charges in Chile, is very clear that their chances of a fair trial in Santiago are very small. The man was already convicted by the media, although indications are that he had already distanced itself from the leadership of the Front at the time of the attack.

The mystery of the level of involvement in the killing, but it is an example of how the Chilean right is also seeking to keep alive the issue of political violence where he favors, while the left accuses of playing the victim. Today

the far right is threatening to take the case to the OAS, demanding to extradite the accused. Curiously, they're just the same as they fought to the death that Pinochet was not extradited and not their crimes ever faced.

This issue has gained momentum during the administration of Piñera, sunk in the polls and not able to connect with society, remains from grave to grave and trying to find his voice and direction.

Overwhelmed by tremendous pressure from supporters of Pinochet, Piñera has had to double their hands more than once for not torn apart the alliance that brought him to power. The Chilean president is trapped between his desire to be liked and addiction all the ultra-right politics. This weakness has been noticed and has damaged his reputation.

would be a great opportunity for Piñera take this moment and make a claim Guzman critical to the role of the dictatorship. There is the myth, of course, but it is also true: the reality of a man who more than an accomplice, was the author and promoter of a genocidal, murderous, all while giving the más intensos baños de pureza.

Los baños de pureza están en todas partes, y es mejor aprender a verlos con intensa desconfianza: suelen ocultar muchas cosas sucias.
